About Hiteswar Saikia Foundation
The Hiteswar Saikia Foundation is a non-political socio-cultural and research institution established in memory of Late Hiteswar Saikia, the former Chief Minister of Assam. Formed by his close friends, admirers, and family, the Foundation aims to perpetuate his legacy of public service, socio-political engagement, and cultural promotion. The Foundation was formally established on 2nd December 1996 and registered through a Deed of Trust. It operates from its registered office in Guwahati, Assam.
Hiteswar Saikia was known for his dynamic and dedicated leadership, contributing to the progress and harmony of Assam. His untimely demise on 24th April 1996 led to the creation of this Foundation to carry forward his vision for a peaceful, equitable, and progressive Assam and India.
Aims and Objectives
The Foundation was established with the primary aim of promoting the ideals and vision of Late Hiteswar Saikia, which are deeply rooted in socio-cultural harmony, education, and progressive development. Its key objectives include:
- Perpetuating the Legacy: To preserve and promote the ideals, thoughts, and contributions of Late Hiteswar Saikia to society and politics.

All assets and income are managed by a Board of Trustees, who ensure that the funds are utilized strictly for the stated objectives of the Foundation.
